ICA’S STATEMENT ON THE RELEASE OF THE SEASONAL FORECAST BY THE IGAD CLIMATE PREDICTION AND APPLICATIONS CENTRE (ICPAC).
Early Warning Systems Are Not Just Tools for Disaster Preparedness; They Are Instrumentsof Climate Justice.
Yesterday, 20th of August 2024 the IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC) released a seasonal forecast which underscores the urgent need for robust early warning systems to mitigate the impacts of climate crises, especially in vulnerable regions like the Greater Horn of Africa(GHA). These systems are vital not only for general disaster preparedness but also for ensuring that marginalized communities, including Sexual and Gender Minorities (SGMs) are not left behind in climate resilience efforts.
